Building Financial Confidence
You are enough.
Bedrock creates structures to support a life of stability, confidence, and peace.
I’m Beth. I’ve been there.
As a successful young professional, I enjoyed my work and made good money. But I never had enough. I spent more than I made. I felt bad for wanting things. I was stressed about money all the time. A co-worker suggested a book that basically said: Spend less than you make. But: How?!? I worked in corporate finance; I knew numbers and I knew budgets. I didn’t need budgeting tools. I needed help sticking to my budget.
As a Bedrock Financial Health client, I learned that there was more than how I spent my money. Namely: Why. At the time, there was so much going on in my personal life that was out of control—my parent’s divorce, my brother’s addiction recovery, starting my own recovery journey—that I was trying to control my life with an impeccable façade. I wanted my life to be okay, so I spent a lot of money to make it look okay. Keeping up the appearance of having it all together was a cover for my embarrassment about everything that wasn’t working in my life. The constant feeling of not having enough was really an extension of feeling that I wasn’t good enough. That feeling of not being good enough is at the root of so much overspending in our materialistic culture.
I had a lot of pride until I pulled back the curtain and saw clearly: I’m not doing so well. That was hard to admit. But when I did, there was no judgement. Instead, the Bedrock process showed me how to prioritize what really mattered to me, and then focus and achieve those goals. Through it, I found I did have enough—if I chose to prioritize my needs and learn to pause before reactive spending. After nine months, I paid off my car loan early. In about a year, I built an emergency savings. A year and a half into the program, I had two months of surplus, and I didn’t spend it. That would never have happened before Bedrock. I would have spent it. And I still can spend it; but now I can spend it confidently. The confidence to know that I can take care of myself—I really feel that now. My future is not dependent on someone else. I feel more at peace knowing that I am okay.
Stability You Can Trust
Reduce stress. Establish support. Build confidence. Celebrate success.
Our culture places a lot of shame on not having money. We don’t buy that. Especially given how incredibly common financial challenges are. So, first we dispel the shame. Now we can meet you where you are to discuss your individual needs. Then we work to understand what is in the way of your financial independence. Finally, we share ways for you to build your worth to move forward and prosper.
